White Sands National Monument

https://www.nps.gov/whsa/index.htm  The web site says “Like no place else on earth” and I believe it! The worlds largest Gypsum dunes – 275 square miles of white desert. There is a scenic drive through the dunefield, with trails, a couple picnic areas and dunes where visitors can toboggan. Petroglyphs thousands of years old

A 10 minute walk from the entrance to the ranch leads to a small hill of rocks where some well kept petroglyphs can be found. There are sites like this all through the Chihuahuan desert.
