Weather still being colder than we had expected for the time of year, we are anxious to get to Osoyoos, so despite the quiet and solitude of Moyie Lake we continue onward. Driving the Crowsnest Hwy. is a feast for the eyes. Mountain peaks, valleys, long high mountain passes, and the occasional town. We stop eventually at an RV park in Grand Forks and set up – call the owner as per the written instruction and check out the washroom and laundry area (hoping to do some laundry). We soon realize that the area had been hit by flood in 2017 and buildings had been damage – the laundry machines were still covered in dirt, and remnants of the sandbags were visible. We called the owner back and pulled up stakes to move on.
A further hour or so down the road, with a very cranky cat, and us getting tired, we pull into Rock Creek Riverside Campground in a town of the same name. Again, a sign on the door asking us to call the owner. After leaving a message a gentleman pulls up on an ATV and after shelling out cash, we are told to pick any site. There is a primitive fill station (a hose), and dump station (a hole in the ground), so we fill our water a bit and head to the creek to set up. The campground is very primitive with old wooden pit toilet (thankfully we don’t need to use them), but along a creek surrounded by farms and hills. Very pretty area. It quiet with few other campers.
