KM 1540 Kakabeka Falls near Thunder Bay, ON

Kakabeka Falls, Ontario

We wake to a much nicer day, and decide to do a very short trip to nearby Kakabeka Fall and Provincial Park. It is supposed to be a must see in the area.

Our site is still occupied when we drive in – checkout is 2:00, so we park in a free spot nearby and walk back to check out the falls. It’s a 10 minute walk.

The falls are really spectacular. Shooting down steeply into a canyon below. There is a very well maintained boardwalk on both sides, with viewing platforms placed to get views from every angle.
Our site is a large site with gravel platform for the trailer and grassy areas around which is really nice. The facilities are clean and modern and I am able to do a load of laundry and get caught up with that. Beside us is a couple with a much larger Grand design trailer, they stop to give us a tip on backing in as they head out for the day. Guess we look like newbies still – sigh !!
