Picacho Peak State Park

20 minutes west of Tucson at the foot of the Picacho mountain and just off Interstate 10 – we are here for 4 nights in site C-18. There are 5 hiking trails right in the park and paved roads for biking. The sites are large and well spaced out for privacy (arranged in 3 loops which have found is a really good layout for campgrounds) – full comfort stations with free showers and good rates. Although it is close to the highway, the noise is minimal.

Fun fact: This is the location of the western-most Civil War conflict – the ‘Battle of Picacho Pass’.

Scorpions, Rattlesnakes, Black widows and Tarantula’s are not enough – Now BEES?

Chris’ early morning hike up Picacho Peak.

And our hike next day on the sunset trail.
