In March COVID-19 shut down the world when WHO declared a pandemic. Now, in August, a few activities have resumed with precautions in place and we are very thankful to be living on an island where the pandemic is easier to manage. Since March we have continued to explore our island on walks and hikes, and it has been fun discovering the flora & fauna of the winter & spring seasons, not to mention the beach creatures. In June, when camping resumed we took a couple trips to the Northern regions of the island. The following photos are from many different walks/hikes and camping we have done in the past few months.
Mar 16 – Lighthouse County Regional Trail – A bench and a bird feeder.
Mar 22 – Nymph Falls Nature Park – On the Punledge river man-made ledges were formed to help the salmon navigate the fast flowing water. And a local wood carver made some beautiful tables and benches.
Our local beach always serves up some interesting creatures that change with the seasons.
Apr 28 – Nile Creek West Trail – A very interesting trail along the Nile creek, through dense and wet forest. It is a fun trail like an obstacle course with ladders and steps made from logs, ropes to climb steep places, and a series of waterfalls to climb up.
