After the New Year rang in at the fancy RV resort we continued our travels of the western US states. Adding to the states we already visited were; New Mexico, Utah, and a brief visit to Idaho because it was on our route home.
We landed back in Canada on April 21st 2019 and parked our home on wheels “Imagine Inn” at an RV park in Saanich on Vancouver Island. Thus began a tedious process of looking for a rental home. While house searching we took full advantage of the area and explored the many hiking trails and little villages in the area. Proximity to Victoria also allowed us to get to know the city better.
On May 1st we moved into a 2 bedroom ‘carriage style’ house in Qualicum Beach. Settling in, buying new furnishings, and exploring our new community kept us busy.
Rachel and Caitlin came for a visit in the summer which was so great. We did a whirlwind tour in one week visiting Victoria, the Pacific Rim, and cramming in as many local day trips as we could.
In August, Chris flew back east to Ottawa to help Maggie (mom) move to BC.
The next four months we all settled into our new digs – tending to the necessary business of changing ID, finding doctors, dentists, and pharmacists. We all joined the Newcomers club and took university courses to meet new people and did a lot of day trips. We started a dog walking business which slowly gained momentum and we were volunteering at the SPCA while Maggie was volunteering at the Seniors Centre.
We decided to sell our travel trailer and buy a small motorhome (check the blogs posts for further explanations on that decision). It was a big decision and a lot of money spent, but we found and bought a used Pleasure Way Class B+ that we name “Portage”.
Christmas this year was a quiet one and we dearly missed being with our girls.
