We have not posted for a few months but we have not been idle. We have been out and about exploring, but once home, our online time was taken up with other tasks. We spent many hours looking for a rental in Qualicum Beach for Chris’ mom, and after a couple months of searching found her a garden suite in a house within walking distance of the village. We also made a big decision to sell our Grand Design trailer (Imagine Inn) – so began again the exhaustive research for a small motorhome that would better suit our lifestyle. And, being new to the island, we are constanly looking online for good hikes & walks, canoeing, camping, and road trips.
One of the highlights is our local beach which is a 5 minute walk and a great place to relax and unwind. When the tide is out we have a big sandy beach where we can sit or swim in the warm waters throughout the summer (it is never crowded as it seems only the locals use this beach). We bought a couple backpack beach chairs (Tommy Bahama from Amazon) and had some lovely afternoons by the water. Locally, we went to a few theatre productions, outdoor exhibitions, explored the local farm markets, golfed, biked, and joined our local SPCA as dog walkers – to fullfill the dog void in our lives and because we are retired and have time to give.
In August, Chris travelled back to Ottawa and helped his mom, Maggie, with her move to QB. She stayed with us for a few weeks while waiting for her rental to become available. During that time we also had visits from friends and family which gave an excuse for another trip to the Pacific Rim and finding some great new local stores and restaurants.
We eventually settled into a more relaxed pace of outdoor activities interspersed with beach time, and routine day to day stuff.
