We visited Qualicum Beach twice before and fell in love with the area,. Now as residents, we are looking at our neighborhood in a different light – trying to find the gems and learning the best routes around the traffic that will soon triple. We have been running around most days buying the small things every home needs, and while doing the shopping we always try to mix in a little fun outing like a discovery drive, hike, or picnic. Although QB is small we have everything we need within walking or biking distance if we wish, and the box stores are 30-45 minutes drive both South and North. There are also 9 golf courses within walking distance or a short drive. So far we have managed to play only one round of golf, but looking forward to trying out all the locals courses this summer.
Parksville Beach at low tide. We had a nice picnic and walk along the beach and walking path. There are food trucks, concession stand, ice cream truck in summer. A big playground, and kite flying space.
A trip to Englishman River Falls Provincial Park: A nice drive into the country took us through a couple small towns and then into the park where there is a campground, nice day use area, and hiking trails along the river. The river was running fast and the upper falls are spectacular as they drop into a very narrow canyon and then cascade down into a lower area that we will definitely return to for swimming.
