Victoria, BC

We spent an afternoon downtown, mainly to revisit the taco stand Red Fish, Blue Fish that we discovered 6 years ago – best ever fish tacos!!!! They are located dockside, a very short walk from the Empress Hotel, and beside the Harbour Air terminal. We had a much shorter wait this time due to the cool, breezy weather. Chris had the classic fish and chips, and I had seared tuna (perfectly done). Both were super good, served with crispy fries and a fresh slaw made with pea shoots..delish! They make thier own tortillas and ketchup. As you sit by the taco stand you can watch the water taxis, seaplanes, and boats coming and going. Quite something how they all navigate a narrow waterway together.

We walked through Chinatown marked by large pergoda’s at the street entrances (very similar to those in Ottawa), and along the famous FanTan alley which is a series of narrow lanes lined with shops and practitioners of many sorts.

Along the waterfront you can get to Fisherman’s Wharf where the floating village is, and where you can buy fresh caught fish and seafood. The village is a colourful collection of homes and at least one B&B. ($$$$).
