This park contains the world’s largest concentration of sandstone arches with over 2000 arches, along with many really cool formations. We got up very early in order to get there for a sunrise photo op at the ‘windows section’ of the park.
The most popular section ‘Delicate Arch’ has 2 options to see the arch – a 3 hour hike which brings you right up to the arch, or a shorter hike where you get a great view of the arch from a distance. We opted for the second option having done quite a bit of walking the past 2 days. Starting early paid off as Chris was able to get a good photo without a person in it.
We then drove to the end of the scenic drive in the park to visit more arches in the Devil’s Garden section. This is also where the campground is located. In this area, there are several short hikes and a couple longer and more advanced ones.
As we left the park, there were lines of cars waiting to pay at the entrance gate. I’m glad we went early. “Early bird gets the good photos”……
