Water in the desert? How refreshing (pun intended)! a 265-acre man made lake. This state park is very popular being the only lake for miles where you can use a motorboat to ski or go fishing, or to have a quiet kayak or canoe (in the no-wake zones). It is close to the border city of Nogales with all the big stores and a jaunt into Mexico if you wish. The park is well equipped to handle large crowds with a visitor centre (with a great bird/butterfly garden), store, cabins, and a day use beach. Our site #60 was equipped with a shelter (ramada) over the picnic table which would be good in the heat of summer. There are a couple hiking trails from the park and a couple more a short drive away. The park also has boat-in camping sties (hmmm. intriguing). We enjoyed our short stay.
